Yesterday was a very long day driving 3 hours to Lexington for a 9 hour Newborn Resesitation training and certification.
After passing my online portion we headed out starting with coffee and ending with pizza.
This class was fast paced and full of information from learning to use a laryngeal mask to placing an intraocceaus line in a newborn.
It was really wonderful to have so much support from so many of the local midwives who have done this for while and a few students who are rounding out phase 3.
I am looking forward to practicing more, watching more videos on these subjects and fine tuning my knowledge as I continue, but this was a really big step towards my goals.
I am now NRP certified! 🎉🎉🎉

77 hours and only 8 hours of sleep the last 3 days have been wild.
Two birthdays and even a hike with a mom in labor to help get things going.
I have been reflecting as I prayed the Lord to prune relationships and things in me that are unhealthy for my life or can't come into my next season with me and while it's been hard, I've gained depth with a lot of wonderful people pushing me closer to Jesus and also time.
The time thing is wild to me, but I'm thankful for it. I've been able to help more people because of it. I'm only one person though and I believe the Lord is protecting my time with who he wants me to support because I will support everyone around me if given the opportunity.
He will protect our space and our time. He will protect what is sacred. Your birth space is sacred, your pregnancy is sacred. The time we have to grow and be with our families is sacred. Not everyone is welcome, not everyone can be in these sacred spaces and when we all understand that, the better we will be able to guard our hearts.
Remember it's not about who didn't show up, it's about who does. ❤️

These sessions take up to 3 hours and we can divvy it up into two one and a half hour sessions. That way you're not going in I'm prepared and your partner is ready as well. This is an excellent alternative if you don't have a doula in the budget or don't want another person in your birthing space, but you want to make sure you know everything ahead of time so that you can advocate for yourself well and be prepared for any surprises along the way.
I offer virtual care as well for $250. You do not have to do this alone.

Imagine this:
You haven't showered in a week, your Doula gets to your house and you hand her the baby. She tells you to go take care of yourself and take a nice long shower.
While you're in the shower your baby is safe, their diaper has been changed, and your Doula has gotten your baby to sleep. After the baby's gone to sleep she has made you a plate with high dense nutrition and protein with your favorite sparkling water waiting for you at your chair. She asks you what else you need and you say the remote, I've really missed TV.
You get to relax while you're Doula does your dishes. Baby wakes up and your Doula checks on them, changes them if necessary, and brings them to you to feed. You need to only relax and take a deep breath because you're taken care of while you are taking care of your baby.

Transition (n)-
The process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another.
Transition in labor is a pivotal moment.
It is hard, you want to give up, you might question your strength and sometimes your self worth.
However, without it, you wouldn't get to the pushing stage.
Life is a lot like this when things are changing and flowing. It's important to take deep breaths and bring people around you that cheer you on, keep you out of your head, and give you counter pressure to ease the pain.
What if a curve ball happens though and someone applying counter pressure suddenly leaves without warning and chooses to put you down instead?
Well, they can no longer be on your birth team and I've had more than one client kick a nurse off their team for inappropriate behavior. Your space is sacred, be careful who you allow in. Now you're going to need healing fast to continue. It's been proven this can add a stall to labor, that's where I come in. That's where your team comes in to help you.
It's time to do some mindset work now. It's time that I come beside you and we talk about what's going on so we can adjust affirmations to be the opposite of those negative thoughts and fears.
The truth of the matter is that labor is 75% mental work.
So, just like a woman in labor, you'll need people who can talk you through what's really going on and speak life into you.
Because, the truth is you can do this.
You are strong enough for this.
You are the right person for the job.
And
The Lord is with her, she cannot fail.
So that's a different a doula can make I'm childbirth and I've had more than one client begin to push after this mindset work after or through transition within an hour or two.
Get yourself friends that do the same because you can't give up before it's time to push and birth something beautiful. ❤️

After navigating women's health care for over 20 years to get a diagnosis for endometriosis I have learned a lot. This is why I am a birth doula, I know how to navigate women's health and know how to empower you so you can too with support.
It's a very lonely world being told your drug seeking, having a miscarriage despite being a virgin and being called a liar by doctor after doctor and ER visit after ER visit with no help in site just to be told it's anxiety or that's just how periods are and you're being dramatic. It shouldn't take over 2 decades for a resolution or diagnosis, women's health has failed us. They only truly started studying our bodies in the mid 90s.
You no longer need to walk through this alone. I'm here to give you all the information I have gathered for 26 years so you can get the help you need, have actual support and even care after surgery if that is the route you choose. A lot of information, just like with birth had been disproven, but doctors still going tight onto hypothesis over facts because they have not kept up on current data and are unknowledgeable about holistic paths natural doctors are. Either way, I will have resources for both so you have ALL your options in front of you.

Just a friendly language lesson: The word “postpartum” DOES NOT mean “depression”. 🤓
The word “postpartum” means the period after childbirth.
“Postpartum depression” means depression that happens during this time period.
The words “postpartum” and “postpartum depression” are NOT interchangeable.
Side note: postpartum doulas help ALL moms and do not just help moms who are depressed.
