If she weren’t there I probably would have had a c-section.
"Karriane was such a help through labor and birth. She really tailors her care to who you are. I am thankful for her knowledge and help. It was such a comfort to have her there and if she was not, I probably would have had a C-section."
Ashley KShe encouraged me not to give up!
"Karriane encouraged my husband and I throughout the whole experience. She told me how good I was doing and that helped me keep going and not to give up. She was very supportive before birth and during labor. I am thankful she was able to be there!"
Megan G.Every woman deserves a doula like Karriane!
"I am truly grateful for Karriane's peaceful presence at our home birth! Her soothing voice as she coached me through making low during contractions when I would forget, when she and my husband took turns using counter pressure on my hips during each wave, and her words of discernment gave us knowledge and safety to make the best decisions for our family. Not just with our birth, but also through postpartum. I could go on and on with how much I value her skill, professionalism, and compassion. Every new in seasoned mother to be deserves a doula like Karriane in their lives"
Rachel & Grant G.Her suggestions helped me push my baby out!
"Having someone who was a constant in the turmoil of constant changing nurses and doctors was so helpful. Also, the suggestions at different stages was so helpful, if she didn't suggest the tug-of-war for pushing I don't know if I could have pushed my baby out."

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I need a doula if I have a midwife?
Yes! Doulas and midwives perform completely separate jobs. A midwife is a trained medical professional who is able to deliver babies and perform a variety of procedures. Doulas offer physical and emotional support, but do not perform any medical tasks or interfere with them. Midwives and doulas love to work together.
-
Is a doula worth it if I am going to be in the hospital/have an epidural/etc?
Doulas support all kinds of births. While many clients are hoping to have unmedicated or even home births, everyone can benefit from a doula. Remember that doulas do much more than pain relief during birth- education about the process, postpartum help and support, and other roles are also a part of the package.

Will my partner feel replaced by a doula?
Doulas are in no way meant to take on the same role as your partner. Your partner knows you, your comforts, your emotions, and what you need better than anyone and will be a huge part of your birth. Doulas come with knowledge about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum that your partner may not have and help them find the best way to apply that knowledge to you. We love to work with partners, giving them tips for comfort measures and empowering them to be a part of the journey.
